LAUNCH SPRING 2009: New Social Network Launches to Get Designers Branded

The focus of Styleapple is to provide a collaborative marketing network for designers and design firms to promote and build their brands.

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 21, 2009 -- "We find that in order to effectively build a brand, collaborative engagement with potential customers and clients is essential. Companies who become actively involved in the design community through a series of social networking and integrated marketing techniques see much better results," said Calvin Cox, founder of Styleapple.

The Styleapple network was developed primarily to help designers and design firms standout from their competition through Styleapple's commitment to the branding process. With that said, most if not all present and subsequent integration of marketing and social networking tools are based on Neumeier's five basic principles of branding.

" We are very excited about bringing Styleapple to the design community. Our mission is to provide the marketing (tools, space, resources, framework) that enables designers to be successful at what they do best "
"To become Branded, at some point your design firm must engage in the following 5 principles"

(1)   Differentiate: Focus. Focus. Focus - Who are you? What do you do? Why does it matter?
(2)   Collaborate: Your brand is not what you say it is, it's what they (clients and customers) say it is.
(3)   Innovate - Creativity is what give brands traction in the marketplace. "How do you know when an idea is innovative - When it scares the hell out of everyone."
(4)   Validate - Feedback. Feedback. Feedback. Bring your audience into the creative process.
(5)   Cultivate: Brand building is a process, not an entity. A living brand is a pattern of behavior, not a stylish veneer.

"The challenge is no longer only about finding a creative vision, it's now more so about bringing that vision to the marketplace successfully," explains Calvin.

As Styleapple continues to develop a network for design firms to successfully market their brands. They are adamant about the development of effective social media tools that will expand their members brands seamlessly across the web, ultimately and intuitively reaching their demographics while separating them from their competition. As is evident from the Styleapple tag line: STANDOUT-- Get Branded.

"We are very excited about bringing Styleapple to the design community. Our mission is to provide the marketing (tools, space, resources, framework) that enables designers to be successful at what they do best," concludes Calvin.

COMMENTS

Hey there. Oliver from Bonn, germany here. I am a art director and web developer. When I read "a new social network to get designers branded" I was pretty excited. So I went to StyleApple.com

But there is no way for me to enter the page because some script is sniffing out my browser and telling me, that my browser is not supported!

Just to make it clear, I love thos script to make fun of IE6 Users, but I am using Safari 4 on a brand new iMac. My browser is the most compatible browser in the world and passes the acid3 test with 100%!!!

Sorry guys, this entry script is extremely poor crafted and I don't even want to see the site no more now since I am pretty dissapointed now!

I know that it can be a hard knock life dealing with the IE6 rendering engine, but stopping every traffic but that traffic that comes from FF3 or IE7 is the wrongest way I've ever seen!

You had your chance. Not successfull!

Best wishes from germany, Oliver

Hi Oliver,
I understand your frustration and appreciate the feedback. We've been getting requests for Safari 4. Due to our Launch time-line, we were not able to officially release Styleapple on Safari 4, but it will definitely be included in subsequent upgrades/releases.

Oliver, Oliver Oliver...take a deep breath. Speaking on behalf of the development team, let me share with you some of the reasons why Safari 4 on Mac was not supported by launch.

First of all - I hate to be the one to bring the almighty Macintosh down a peg or two, but the facts are undeniable: Safari 4 running on a Macintosh consists of less than 2% of the entire global browser market. Macintosh in general consists of less than 6% of the entire computer market (and that is a high point).

Styleapple IS currently viewable using Safari 3 and FireFox 2 & 3 on a Macintosh. Only 50% of Macintosh users use Safari over FireFox. Of that 50%, less than half have upgraded to Safari 4 from Safari 3 because Safari 4 is still in BETA testing (which hardly strengthens your claim about Safari 4 being the "most compatible browser in the world" - if it were, it would no longer be in BETA).

As a matter of development policy, we do not actively support browsers which are still in BETA testing.

Here are the facts:

PC's consist of nearly 96% of all internet users. Firefox consists of nearly 50% of the available browser market. IE 7 & 8 consist of an additional 27%. IE 6 users are the one's Styleapple is most concerned with at this point, because IE6 still consists of 17% of internet users.

Styleapple is currently viewable on the following browsers & platforms:

PC(Windows):
FF2
FF3
IE7
IE8
Chrome
Opera 9

MAC:
FF2
FF3
Safari 3

Linux:
FF2
FF3
Opera 9

So as you can clearly see - once you factor out the known IE6 issues, Styleapple covers 98% of the remaining browser market.

Unfortunately for you - you happen to fall in the unlucky 2% of internet users which jumped into the Safari 4 BETA without considering the warning all BETA products carry: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

A Safari 4 upgrade is currently planned and will be available shortly.

Hey there,

please don't get me wrong. I totally agree with you that you do not support every browser on this planet. And I know, that I am in that 2% range.

But this site is mainly for designers etc, right?
So I bet that you %-values are wrong for this site since many of your users will be Mac users!

I wouldn't mind if you would not support Safari 4 because of rendering problems or what so ever, but as far as I could check it in the last weeks there are totally no problems with Safari4.

There is just no reason to not support it!

Best wishes, Oliver
